South Surrey
Community Garden
About the Garden

Located in a repurposed automotive dealership parking lot in South Surrey, this community garden is a creative example of placemaking — turning vacant land into a thriving space for food growing and community connection.
In partnership with White Rock Volkswagen and Urban Systems Foundation, the garden came to life in 2022, with 64 raised beds built in a single day by over 50 volunteers. In 2025, the garden expanded by an additional 22 beds, bringing the total to 86 and providing over 30 families with access to fresh, homegrown food.
The garden was made possible by the energy and effort of volunteers, garden members, and community partners. From design through to ongoing management, this space reflects a shared commitment to food access and community engagement.
