On May 3rd, we hosted a Spring Gardening Workshop at the CGR East Broadway Community Garden. Facilitated by Danielle LeBlanc (Blog: Poor and Gluten Free), our garden members learned about the importance of proper sunlight, soil health, and pest control.
During the Q&A session, gardeners asked Danielle for planting tips for their spring veggies, where they were able to dig deeper into companion planting, nitrogen fixing, and growing in full sun conditions.

As a treat for everyone, Danielle brought several different seed varieties that are perfect for soil health and pest control: Bush Beans (Mascotte), Sunflower (Evening Sun), Alyssum (Dwarf Purple), Arugula (Cultivated Rocket), Lettuce (Rouge D’Hiver), and Snow Peas (Oregon Sugar Pod).
On this beautifully sunny spring morning, our garden members walked away with seeds and valuable tips for a successful growing season.
Thank you, Danielle LeBlanc, for sharing your knowledge with us in the garden! Learn more about Danielle at her blog, poorandglutenfree.blogspot.com and on Facebook: Poor and Gluten Free (Gluten Free on a Budget).
