Medicine Wheel Garden Summer Workshop Series
Date: Sunday, August 18th, 2024
Time: 10:00am to 12:30pm PST
Fee: $5.00
Learn about Indigenous foods and medicines growing in Trout Lake’s Medicine Wheel Garden! Join us monthly for hands-on experience tending the garden, harvesting, and medicine making. Garden tending and harvesting at 10am, followed by tea and snacks! The workshop will begin at 11:00am. All supplies are included.
This month in the garden, we welcome Laura Cisneros, mujer mestiza from Cuba, of Yoruba, Taino and Spanish descent, and teacher of plant medicine and conscious dreaming. Laura will guide us in gathering, preserving and making our own medicinal herbal teas, and will talk about how to use conscious dreaming practices to deepen our relationships with plant medicine. Please bring a blanket to sit on.
This project has been supported through the Neighbourhood Matching Fund program of the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and the Trout Lake Community Centre Association, in partnership with Cedar Cottage Food Network, Community Garden Roots, and Lu’Ma Medical Centre Society.
Register online or by calling Trout Lake Community Centre.
Workshops are $5, all supplies are included and subsidies are available.
In case of rain or heat, we will have a tent set up.
The Medicine Wheel Garden is a sacred space and educational site, growing Indigenous foods and medicines. It is located on the western side of Trout Lake, close to the Trout Lake Community Centre playground on the ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh) Nations.
